A bleary eyed Ten O'clock in the morning on a warm but slightly cloudy day, found 15 club members with 3 Trikes and 5 Bikes assembled at the Iron Horse Cafe in Market Deeping ready for a ride-out to Rutland Water.  Well, ready that is, after tucking into a tasty fried breakfast with cups of tea and coffee as required.

Led by our fearless leader, Sandy, we set out at 11.00 for what was to become quite a trek around the countryside.  We knew that Rutland Water was about 35 miles from Market Deeping but as we joined the A14 going west towards Kettering we suspected that Sandy's Sat-Nav might be on the blink. However, untroubled by the confused looks in his rear view mirrors, Sandy pressed on to bring us up to Melton Mowbray. - Missed again ! and we didn't even stop for pies.
However, the final leg brought us safely to our destination having covered a mere 95 miles.
Sandy just smiled and said "I thought you might like to see a bit of the countryside".

Here is a map of our route and a few pictures of us along the way.

After two and a half hours of fine scenery, we finally arrived at our destination at Rutland Water North Shore.  The Park offers a Visitor Centre, Cafeteria, Water Sports, toilets and a wonderful Nature Reserve to walk around. The car park was a bit chalky and dusty but provided firm ground for our splendid machines.

We immediately went for the toilets followed by coffee and food,
then set out for a leisurely walk around the park.

Setting off back, the group split up to go their separate ways home

However, just as we left the car-park barrier in our rear view mirrors, we were greeted by the last flying Vulcan aircraft
which I am sure saw us and dipped his wing in salute as he flew over

The fitting end to a great day out.
