This week we heard the sad news that one of our own, Andrew Downey had passed away after fighting a long illness against cancer. Andrew, or Andy to his friends was a regular supporter of Goldwing Owners' Club events and LINCS Wings of which he was a long standing member. He was also a leading member of the British Legion Riders Branch.

The news was passed on to us at the Royal British Legion Poppy Launch on 26 October 2024. Andy was a well known character in the RBL Riders Branch and he supported many of the events with his fellow riders. He could always be relied upon to come up with a cheerful greeting and a witty remark.
Despite his illness, Andy rode many miles on his Black GL1800 to support both RBL and GWOC events, but he never complained or let up on himself. He was a real trooper right up to the end.
