The 2012 LINCS Wingding was held at
Lucarly's in Cleethorpes in
June 2012.
The site included a sports field for camping and Lucarly's pub and
restaurant for eating and drinking.
Despite awful rainy weather we had a good turnout with Goldwings
arriving from as far afield as Devon.
The entertainment and atmosphere was great and we actually managed a
rideout into Lincoln city without it actually raining.
Here we are parked up at the side of the Brayford Marina ready to enjoy
a day of shopping and visiting around the ancient city.
Returning to our camp site we were met by the
Missouri Raiders
a Wild West re-enactment group based in Grimsby. They
instructed us in the use of firearms of the period and then set
us to shooting each other in quick draw shoot-outs (using blank
ammunition). It seemed that Larry (our Chairman) was a dab
hand at the colt 45 - probably due to his enormous hands -
however, he wiped out his competition without a problem.
After the shoot-outs, we competed in a quick draw competition
again the clock. The idea was to draw and fire as quickly
as possible after a light signal. The winner managed a staggering
lightening fast draw of less than 0.7 seconds. Not bad
when you have to heave a lump of heavy iron from its holster,
cock the hammer mechanism all the way back and then pull the
trigger. Our session with the Missouri Raiders was topped off by a most excellent BBQ provided and served by Lucarly's staff for a very reasonable price. |

Overall the Wingding was considered a great success and we even made a profit of £90.00 after paying 50% back to GWOC. In addition, during the evening's entertainment the group made a presentation of a cheque to the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance from charity funds we had collected throughout the year. |
