Wolds Biker Charity Bike Night - 31 July 2015
Well the last day of the month was topped off by the Wolds Bikers Charity Bike night at The Coach and Horses, Billinghay. Five of our bikes/trikes showed up for the event and we were given a nice spot to display them. Teas, coffees, burgers and ice-creams were consumed in adequate quantities (including perhaps the odd beer and glass of wine). We enjoyed a pleasant evening with many people calling by to admire the Goldwings, to ask questions and to dream about the day they would get one themselves. The show included vendors stands together with a competition for both Classic and Custom bikes. The evening was rounded off with a rocking 3 piece band who played on into the night.

Monthly Meeting - 26 July 2016
Lincs Wingers held our monthly get-together at Langworth Hall. We discussed our participation in up and coming events. Ron volunteered to lead us in a ride to the Auckley Show, starting from Caenby Corner Cafe at 10.15 on 15 Aug. Sandy informed us that next year's Wing Ding dates would need to change and the new proposed date was between 17 - 19 June 2016, however, he and Jayne were still looking for a suitable new site. The arrangements for the Skegness Light Parade were well advanced and Sandy asked for volunteers to help with different support tasks for the event. He then invited everyone to join in a ride out to the RNLI in Skegness. All 9 bikes/trikes set off with Ian leading and with Mark and Sandy as Tail-end Charlies. We took a nice route through Wragby and Horncastle, over the Wolds to Skegness and we had a lovely ride. Unfortunately, just as we arrived at Skegness sea-front, the heavens opened to spoil an otherwise sunny day. The RNLI treated us very well with hot drinks and the opportunity to look over a fantastic model boat display that they were holding. Their event, attended by the Lord Mayor, went on till 3.00pm when they launched the Life-boat for a simulated rescue mission.

Skegness Bike Night - 11 July 2016
The annual bike night organised by Skegness RNLI went off with a bang as hundreds of bikes turned up to participate. Bikes came from all over as well as spectators who showed up just to look at all the lovely machines. Lincs wings were given a nice spot near to the RNLI where we parked up and then went for a wander, a look, and a nice cup of coffee and a bag of doughnuts. Despite warnings of rain and storms to come, we had a great night with clear weather giving the opportunity for a nice ride out to the seaside. Well done the RNLI.

The Harley Bike Night - 8 July 2015
The 8th of July was a rainy day to begin with so it was little surprise to Stephen as he rode up to the Harley Bike Night in Lincoln when he didn't see many others bikers around. Unfortunately, arriving at the Harley Shop, he saw 4 other bikes departing the scene and a closed Harley Shop. Yes, the Bike Night apparently had been cancelled but not many people knew it. So instead of a burger and coffee, Stephen got a photo and a free ride back home. Sad news to hear that the Harley Shop has closed.

Sandy and Jayne decided to have a day off and go for a ride out on the Trike. Sandy reports: Not really knowing which way or where to go, we stopped off for breakfast at 'Bennys' in Long Sutton before heading to Lings Lynn and then to Wimbotsham where we gate-crashed the Norfolk Wings' monthly meeting. A very warm welcome from all present, about 10 members plus Jayne and I. Being encourage to join in their discussions it was very pleasant to be on the other side of the table for a change, lol. After the meeting had closed and goodbyes taken place we then headed off towards Swaffham, then Fakenham eventually stopping at the Real Ale shop in Wells before moving into town, then headed along the very bumpy coastal road to Hunstanton, quick stop for fuel and then headed home to Freiston. About 160miles total.

Boston Bike Night - 2 July 2015
The Boston Bike Night went down as its usual treat with thousands of bikers and visitors coming from all over to share in a single evening of 'Bikes'. Lincs Wings had it's usual reserved parking on Wide Bargate and we had a total of 18 wings of all different marques and styles to show off. Take a look at our separate album for the night.

Sussex Wing Ding 26 - 28 Jun 2015
Mark and Debbie, Doug and Sue travelled down to Eastbourne on Friday to attend the Sussex Wing Ding. They found a crowd of friendly wingers who welcomed them to the event. On Saturday, they enjoyed a great ride-out as well as a visit to the Bentley Museum and the Wildfowl Park. Of course they couldn't miss visiting the Brighton Royal Pavilion. The Saturday evening's entertainment was provided by a Ukulele band, ending with members joining in for a sing-song. A real nice time.

Fathers' Day at the Blue Bell - 21 June 2015
After the meeting at Langworth, Stephen set off for the Blue Bell in Tattershall Thorpe to meet up with his mum and dad to celebrate Fathers' Day. At the pub, he introduced his great nephews Lucas and Christopher to his pride and joy (Churchill) GL1800 A9. Yep, here are two wingnuts in the making - and they loved it.

Horncastle - 21 June 2015
Following our monthly meeting, Sandy and Jayne decided to take their new baby (GL1500 Trike) out for a spin and to take the opportunity to look over preparation in Skegness for the Light parade (26 Sept 2015). Unfortunately, they got as far as Horncastle before catastrophe struck. Apparently, underneath the chassis and unseen by all, a cable clip had come loose which allowed one of the bikes electrical cables to drop down onto the prop-shaft and become entangled. Unfortunately, this shorted out the bike electrics which meant they couldn't even start the engine. So their trip out ended up in the back of a van for the journey home. Lets hope Sandy manages to get the bugs ironed out fairly soon.

21 June 2015
Lincs Wingers met on 21 June at Langworth Hall (our adopted Club House) for our monthly meeting. We said hello again to our new members and welcomed back Mark and Debbie who had been out to Portugal and Spain to attend their Treffens. Turnout for the meeting was good and it was great to see everyone on their wings. We discussed plans for next year's Wing Ding and details for the Skegness Light Parade to be held on 26 September 2015. We also heard about further bike nights and meetings, which we added to our events calendar. We were all pleased to see that Sandy and Jayne are now once again 3 wheel mobile after their GL1800 trike was written off in an incident in the Isle of Wight last Easter. They have now adopted a silver GL1500 trike that may have a few years under its fan belt but with very few miles on the clock.

Walesby - 30 May 2015
Here is a picture sent in by our new members Jim and Christine, when they took their GL1500 'Tom Tom' out for a ride in the Lincolnshire Wolds. It was just above a place called Walesby on the top road looking back towards Lincoln. They set off from Lincoln down the A15, then right at Caenby Corner to Walesby, on into Tealby and Market Rasen then back again dodging the showers. A nice day out !

Border Wing Ding 22 - 25 May
A few of us (5 in all) managed to make the trip up to Alnwick for the Border Wing Ding. The 200 mile trip up to Northumberland was a 5 hour slog due to the numerous road-works along the A1 combined with Bank Holiday traffic. However, we arrived safe at the Alnwick Rugby Club to find a very nice campsite and Clubhouse with excellent showers and toilets. Friday was arrivals and inscriptions followed by dinner and disco in the Club. On Saturday around 40 Goldwings took part in a ride-out that showed us some wonderful parts of Northumberland and some great roads. We stopped for lunch at a Cafe in Otterburn (we pretty much filled the car park) we then carried on through the national Forest for a second stop at the lovely town of Rothbury before returning to Alnwick. A total of around 100 miles. Saturday night included dinner, a live band and a fancy dress theme based on Harry potter. Even more entertainment followed on Sunday despite a slightly damp start to the day. Our thanks to Border Wings for an excellent weekend which was well planned and most hospitable.

Monthly Meeting and Ride-out
17 May 2015The monthly meeting was held at Langworth Hall (our newly adopted clubhouse) with a turnout of 17 and apologies from a further 6. Sandy, first thanked everyone for attending and welcomed 2 new members to the Club and the Region, Jim and Christine. He gave us a run down on the Wing Ding stats (see below) and then covered the arrangements for the Skegness light parade and also our support for the Kelso Treffen. The meeting lasted about an hour and then a group of riders decided to take a run out to Short Ferry to look over the venue as a possible site for next year's Wing Ding and to enjoy a scrummy Pub Dinner.
