Wolds Run East Kirkby - 29 April 2017

Marion and Trev went to East Kirkby on Saturday for the Wolds Bikers event and went on the rideout around the Wolds countryside. They met up with Larry and Ian after the run out. Nice day out, good run out and great company - nothing better!

Squires Cafe - 26 April 2017

With typically April weather, Debbie and Mark, Sue and Doug opted to jump in their cars for a trip up to Squires Cafe to meet up with Border Wings friends from up' t' frozen North.  Here they are enjoying a warm cuppa and some warm biker friendship.

Torksey Lock - 19 April 2017

Ian and Larry went on short run to Torksey Lock Tea Room on Wednesday. This was Larry's first run of the season since having a knee replacement in Feb this year.  Ian took out the new addition to his stable a 1976 GL1000 LTD Edition, purchased last October at the Stafford Classic show - purchased without hearing it run! Only 13000 miles on clock.  Nice little tea room, but a strange owner who scares most away with her unfriendliness!!!!!

Appleyard's Open Day - 9 April 2017

Sandy & Jayne, Ian, Trevor & Marion and Graham & Elaine all took the trip up to Keithley for Appleyard's Open Day.  There was an impressive turnout for the day so that marshals were having difficulty in finding places where newcomers could be parked up.  Sandy set up shop to advertise this year's Skegness Light Parade Stall to encourage wingers to participate and help raise money for the Skegness Lifeboat Charity fund.  Overall, a great day out and an ideal opportunity for shopping !!

Shrewsbury Light Parade - 8 April 2017

Happy that Martin and Christine could make it down to Shrewsbury for the annual light parade.  Sandy also visited the daytime display but had to depart before the evening's light parade.  Here is the report that Christine sent to us.  Just a few trikes at the Shrewsbury Light Parade on Saturday, 8th April, which was a wonderful weekend by the River Severn.  Beautiful weather all weekend.  We stayed at a hotel overlooking the Severn and strolled around after our evening meal and ended up at the Shrewsbury Theatre which just happened to have a play starting in 10 minutes!  Managed to get ourselves a couple of tickets.  The Static display in The Quarry followed on the Saturday with the Light Parade starting at 8.15 around the town.  Quite well supported by the public with the money raised going to the local Autism Hub.

Hunstanton Light Parade - 25 Mar 2017

The first Light Parade of 2017 got off to a great start with beautiful clear skies and a gentle breeze.  Although the morning began with a thick frost, it soon burned off in the bright sunlight.  Sandy and Jayne B, Dick and Pat met up with Stephen and Lynne at the Anglia Motel on the A17 (Stephen and Lynne had sneaked in early to grab a bacon sandwich and cup of tea).  Setting off in Goldwing convoy we made our way to Hunstanton arriving just around midday and the start of the static parade.   We parked up and watched as Goldwings continued to appear for the next few hours.  A walk around the town set us up with food and hot drinks and then we spent plenty of time talking to other wingers and the crowds that came to admire our bikes.  The static parade continued until 15.30 when we all dispersed for a meal and a warm drink.

At  18.00 we began to assemble in the Coach Park but found that the way was barred to trikes by a set of iron poles planted in the access road.  The Council had kindly unlocked them, but the poles were set very firmly in their holes (having spent the winter bedding in).  By dint of brute force and ignorance Stephen and Trevor managed to remove one of the poles and then the bikes and trikes flowed in.  Everyone assembled and set up their individual light shows whilst the Mayor walked around to judge the best lit bike and trike.  In all of this, Stephen managed to get himself inducted into the marshals cadre so instead of roaring around the town, both he and Lynne got to guard a road junction and control the traffic as the parade came around.  All told we had 7 bikes at the show: Sandy & Jayne, Dick & Pat, Stephen & Lynne, Trevor & Marion, Doug & Sue, Mark & Debbie, and Martin & Christine.   This was Jayne B's first experience of the Goldwing pillion and also her first light parade, so welcome to the Club Jayne B!

Regrettably, pictures of lit bikes rarely come out well so here are a few that show us in the Coach park before the parade started.  If anyone has better photos, please send them in.

Well Done Norfolk Wings

At the end of the day, Lincswings received the award for the best attended Region so thanks to everyone who participated.

Southwell - Mar 2017

Doug and Sue found the sun shining for the first time this year and finally prised their yellowbelly Goldwing out of its winter bed to take a pleasant ride to Southwell near Newark where they ended up at the Clock House Cafe for lunch.

Skegness RNLI - 28 Jan 2017

Skegness RNLI received their new lifeboat today.  However, the delivery came earlier than expected due to  very generous donations by Joel and April Grunnill and the new boat has been named after them as a lasting monument to their generosity.  The new lifeboat arrived on a cold January morning but was greeted by waving crowds lining the beach.  Doug and Sue decided to go along to witness the event.  It has been our privilege over the past few years for LINCS WINGS to help raise funds for the RNLI and it is great to see how these funds are used to improve the RNLIs equipment and their ability to help others.

Spalding Bike Show 21/22 Jan 2017

The annual bike show at Spalding's Springfields Centre took place, as usual, on a cold January weekend.  As I arrived at the show, I saw nothing but cars - so I thought I was in the wrong place.  However, at the gate I was asked if I wanted to display my bike.  I pointed out that after a 34 mile ride on winter roads, the bike was filthy. However, its still a Goldwing so I parked it proudly outside the front doors to the exhibition - muck and all.

The show had it's regular format with 3 exhibition halls containing biker gear for sale, then displays of vintage bikes and other stalls for local associations and clubs.  It was all topped off with a restaurant and a bar - so who needs anything more.  Of the Lincs Wingers, I met up with Andrew who was manning the British Legion Bikers stand.  I also saw Larry but he was moving too fast for me to catch up with him - he was making for the loo.

After a few hours of shopping and drinking coffee, I left for the ride home and about 2 hours of cleaning to get all of the muck and salt from under and around the bike.  Still it was nice to get the bike out for a run even if it cost a few hours cleaning.
