Hammer n Pincers - 16 Dec 2018
On Sunday the 16th December Trudy and Trev went to the Hammer n Pincers in Boston for breakfast and met up with members of the BMR (Boston Motorcycle Riders) club. At 11 am we left and rode in to town to visit the Christmas market and to present a donation of clothes to the women's refuge. Then onto the pilgrim hospital children's ward to present the kids with toys and presents. All together a great day out.

Lincs Wings Christmas Bash 2 Dec 2018
Ding Dong Merrily on High
We’ve had our Christmas Party
Wing Ding happily we sing
With Wingers all attending
Gooooooooooooooooold Wings
We all want one for Christmas
Once again LINCS Wings held our Christmas Party at the Grosvenor Hotel in Skegness, this year with 56 in attendance. Most of our Region members came to the event and we were pleased to welcome visitors from all over the country who decided to join us. The weekend started with arrivals on Friday 30 Nov when some of us were surprised to find we were being accommodated in an adjoining hotel due to over-booking of the Grosvenor. At 6.00pm we gathered back in the Grosvenor bar for our evening meal, a drink and a chat. Following dinner we were entertained by a local artist “Pete” who treated us to an evening of songs from the 50s and 60s and a few other more modern themes. Some revellers then stayed up late to get the party off to a good start.
Saturday dawned cold, wet and windy but that didn’t deter us from enjoying a lovely English breakfast and then wandering around Skegness to shop and enjoy the Christmas Market that had only just opened. The day was rather dreary and the rain set in and out a few times so we eventually gravitated back to the hotel to catch a few zzzzz before the party. At 7.00pm we assembled ready to start partying in the main dance hall and enjoyed a three course meal followed by mince pies, coffee and cheese and biscuits (also lots of liquid refreshments). The meal was followed by a DJ who thought that 15 minutes rock and roll or disco medleys where the way to go !! hey ho.
The Arrival photos
Sunday morning was another English breakfast as we all assembled in the Grosvenor Bar and a final chance to bid farewell to our visitors and friends. Once again our thanks go to Sandy and Jayne (Peggy) for arranging the party and for giving us all the chance to get together to enjoy each other’s company. Also a great big thank you to all our visitors who travelled from far and wide to come and help us see out the year and get ready for Christmas.

Last Sunday the 11/11/18, after an emotional Remembrance parade in Boston, Trudy and I took a ride to Skegness to watch the beach racing. As you can imagine the weather was quite bracing, but with a hot coffee, and a spectacular display of bikes and amazing support from the crowds it was a good day out.

Trev and Marion went out across to Spittlegate Hill (Grantham), then down the back roads through the Bitchfield bends to Corby Glen. Whilst they were there they called in for coffee and a cake at the March Hare Bakery and Tea Rooms in Market Place, Corby Glen. The March Hare is small, with a quirky style in decoration, but they serve a decent coffee and have a good selection of cakes - particularly the 'heaven meets hell' chocolate cake.So if you are ever out and about in the Grantham area, Trev and Marion most certainly recommend the March Hare Bakery as a place to stop for a coffee, warm-up and comfort break.Pictures by Marion

Mark's 60th Birthday Bash - 5 Oct 2018
This year Mark celebrated his 60th birthday but he didn't realise that he would be doing it in style. Debbie his lovely wife had organised a surprise party and invited all his friends to join them at Westlands Club, Burton under Slather, for a great night together. Yes the party involved lots of chattin, drinkin, dancin, eatin, drinkin (did I say that twice?) and generally having a great time with lots of cake to go with it. Here are just a few pictures from the evening of Mark and Debbie with all their friends. Happy Birthday Mark.

Air Ambulance Rideout - 23 Sep 2018
Trevor and Trudy decided to take a ride out on a cold September morning to join the 'Ride to save lives': a sponsored ride-out raising money for the Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance . Starting from Newark showground they headed North around Saxilby then on to Gainsborough Dunham bridge and eventually back to the showground. A 62 mile round trip. Arriving back at the Showground they were greeted and thanked by the crew of the Notts and Lincs Ambicopter (The big Yellow Van). Here's Trev and Trudy's GL1500 trike taking pride of place among the many many other bikes that joined the ride out. Well done to all the riders for taking the time out to help raise money for this most worthy cause.pictures by Trevor

Service your SatNav Sir? - 8 Sep 2018
Out of the blue Stephen had a call from Micky Maw in Leicester asking if he could have his Goldwing Satnav updated. A plan was made and Micky arrived on a chilly Saturday afternoon together with his wife Phyl (on a red GL1800), Paul and Karen (blue GL1800) and Ian and Lynne on a Spyder Can Am . Mickey has an GL1800 A9 model Goldwing built in 2009 and like most of his brother wingers, his maps were dated 2009 !!!. This bike incorporates the first generation (Gen I) SatNav introduced by Honda into the Goldwing. Unfortunately it had limited memory and the map is stored on a 2Gb CF card (the sort they commonly use in digital cameras). So with the full European map taking up almost 4Gb of storage, it is necessary to split the map into regions to be able to use it on a Gen I SatNav. Stephen had already prepared new CF cards with the 2019 European map split into West, East and Southern regions. He also applied the Software update (version 2.6) that allows the Gen I SatNav to read the new NT formatted maps. Mickey was then treated to a short teach-in session where Stephen explained the many functions of the SatNav that most people do not even realise are available.
It was great to have a group of wingers call by the house and very interesting to see Ian's Spyder Can Am looking very nice in its white livery. After coffee and photos the group set off to Lincoln for a day of sightseeing before heading back home.

Martin and Christine invited friends around for an annual get together at their home in Cleethorpes. As always, Christine put on a great spread and with 90 people attending they collected charity donations for the RNLI and raised £200.00. Here they are enjoying the day.
