Market Rasen Fete - 22 July 2018
Our association with the Market Rasen Cricket Club meant that once again we were invited to join in and display our bikes at the Village show. Four bikes were on display with a few other visitors dropping by to lend support. The real stars of the show was the display of arachnids (that's spiders for the rest of us) and here are Sue and Debbie smiling whilst holding the biggest spider they have ever seen. That's one way of getting over a phobia.

On today's run, 3 wings, (Ian/Sue, Larry, Trev/Marion) took up the invite for a run to Squires. We met at the grandstand in Lincoln at 1030. Blue sky and already very hot. Ian led and was determined to get there without using the A1 and it worked. Gainsborough, Bawtry, Finningley and then a stop at Delves cafe at Thorne for a drink. A nice place overlooking fishing lakes, very basic but good cheap food. We then continued eventually getting to Squires at 1pm. We all had the usual excellent carvery. Squires had a lot of bikes there but not its usual busy self, maybe the weather was too hot for some. Trev and Marion left before us. We left with Larry at 3pm. I think a good day had by all.

"Lady In The Lake Rally" 30 June 2018
David and Elaine attended the 2018 event for the "Lady of the Lake" Biker weekend, organised and run by the Drednortz MCC and held at the Skipworth Arms, Moortown, near Market Rasen. There was a great camping ground with toilet and shower block on site. The Pub provided full English breakfast on Saturday morning and a catering van was also on site throughout the weekend.
Live music and great entertainment was provided on Friday by JESTER and GYPSEY on Saturday. Drednortz are planning a similar event for 28th 29th 30th June 2019. Full details yet to be confirmed but info will be available on their Facebook Group Page if you are interested in going. This is not a GWOC event but Dave and Elaine would recommend it to other members as a great weekend away and they will be attending again next year
This year's event raised £300 for the Lincs & Notts Air ambulance.
You can see more of Dave and Elaine's adventures on their travel blog which can be shared with fellow members. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Lincs Wings Wing Ding - 22/24 Jun 2018
Lincs Region held our Wing Ding once again at Market Rasen Cricket Club where we greeted many visitors from around the country. The weekend was sunny and hot throughout - which probably accounted for the amount of liquids consumed during the weekend. The theme as before was 'Chill and Chat' and the Club room was filled each evening with 82 inscribed wingers just eager to have a drink and meet new friends. The rideout on Saturday, led by Mark and 'Back doored' by Mike on his Pan European, took us around the Lincolnshire countryside and along the Humber River to visit a nature reserve at Waters Edge near Barton. 25 bikes/trikes joined the rideout and the dropoff system worked superbly well. We stopped for munchies and drinks and then returned to Market Rasen over some typical Lincolnshire road (ie more holes than road !!). Saturday evening was presentations and more chillin as well as the raffle which raised over £870 for 'LIVES' charity.

An 09.30 meeting at the Forest Pines Hotel found 5 bikes and 2 trikes ready for the next leg of the journey up to Appleby for their Summer Show.
Sandy/Jayne, Mark/Debbie, Stephen/Lorraine, Ian/Sue, Stephen/Lynne, Martin/Christine and Trevor (Trudy was working today) arrived and set up shop with the Lincs Wings Banner. Today we were collecting donations for LIVES and we soon had people coming along to see the bikes and to drop a few coins into our collecting boxes. The Show comprised an impressive array of stands and vendors along with a group of Mini cars, vintage cars, vintage tractors and a number of display groups - including of course our Goldwings. Burgers, Beer, Tea and sandwiches were all available at good prices and the centre arena was filled throughout the day with interesting and entertaining displays.By the end of the day, we collected £155 in charity boxes and then we were extremely pleased to receive a further donation of £75 from the Show organisers making £230 to go to our LIVES charity fund. Thanks everyone for a great day out.

Monthly Meeting and Fir Park Ride-out - 10 Jun 2018
The monthly meeting was held at Market Rasen Cricket Club with a good turnout of members and bikes. We discussed our forthcoming Wing Ding arrangements and also a few issues for the Skegness Light Parade. After the meeting 2 bikes and 2 trikes did a quick trip up to Fir Park on the A46 to attend their Wings and Wheels charity show, raising money for the Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance. Mark/Debbie, Trev/Trudy/ Stephen/Lynne and Martin/Christine made the trip and we were ushered into a prime location to show off our bikes. First port of call was the cafe for a yummy burger and then a wander around to see the other exhibits which included model aircraft, model trains and model vehicles, a few other motor bikes and a menagerie of falcons, vintage cars and equipment including a very nicely presented Honda Valkyrie. It was a lovely sunny day so we spent a few hours showing off our bikes and talking to visitors before taking a nice gentle ride back home.

Isle of Wight Trip - 24/28 May 2018
A group of 8 bikes toured down to the Isle of Wight to enjoy a sunny Bank Holiday weekend. Sandy/Jayne with Trev/Trudy and Trev/Marion came down from Peterborough and met up with Mark/Debbie and Stephen/ Lynne at Newbury. Then 3 bikes and 2 trikes made it down to Southampton docks where we met up with Mick/Jayne (Sussex Region) and our own Stephen/Lorraine. Now 7 bikes headed over from East Cowes to make our way down the Isle of Wight to our hotel in Shanklin. The group went out for dinner at 'The Corner' restaurant served by Carla and Jess.
The restaurant was reported to serve the best meat and fish in town, and it was really good.
Finally, Ian/Sue joined us on the Friday after work to make up the group of 8 bikes. Friday was a free-for-all day with individuals and small groups going out to see the sights. Saturday was a group ride-out led by Sandy taking us along the south coast road to the Needles, then up to Yarmouth and Newport and on to Ryde before making the return to Shanklin (via St Helens and a little loop back to Ryde !!). Back at base, Stephen went for a swim in the unheated hotel pool. Saturday night was a spectacular display of nature's response to hot sunny days. yes we had a belter of a thunder storm with massive lighting strikes all around.
Sunday was another opportunity for individuals to get out and about and see the sights. Stephen /Lynne went to Godshill to take photos of a picturesque village and also to visit the model village that looks exactly the same.
Meanwhile, Sandy and a larger group went for a tour and ended up on Ryde Pier for a well posed photoshoot.
Once again back to base for a swim in the pool (just Stephen again) followed by a group visit to a Carvery Pub and a lovely meal.
Monday was return home day and we all set out to try to get an early ferry crossing. This worked out well and we came back over on the 11.30 sailing. Fortunately, the weather held and traffic was surprisingly light allowing us to get back home with the minimum of fuss.
Sincere thanks

A great weekend, as always, was had by all and the weather was perfect for the occasion. Here are a few photos to mark the event and on the return trip Trevor and Trudy stopped off at the Humber Bridge and then Skegness, just for the ride (:-).

Springfields Shopping Centre - 16 May 2018
Just to prove that we don't all sit at home polishing our bikes, Stephen and Lorraine took a trip out to Springfields Shopping Centre in Spalding last Wednesday. Here is Lorraine after a hard days shopping showing off their shiny new GL1800.

Ian and Sue made the trip to East Kirkby this year for the annual Wolds Run with 500-600 bikes turning up on the day to enjoy a ride out in great weather. All proceeds from the run went to the Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance. The Lancaster bomber as usual was started up and taxied around the field with a lucky few riding inside it. There was also a massive collection of model aircraft being flown and displayed around the field by the local Model Aeroplane Club. Martin and Di came in car!! and former members Graham and Elaine showed up on their trike. The ride out was great fun as usual and here is Ian braving a ford on his nice clean GL1800.______________________________________
