LINCSWINGS CHRISTMAS PARTY 2022
Lincswings held our Christmas party at the White Hart Hotel in Lincoln on 22 Dec 2022. The party was attended by 11 Lincs members and family together with 9 friends and visitors from other regions. The White Hart Hotel was first established in 1386 during the reign of Richard II, so it was a great experience to stay in a place with such a history. Indeed, the hotel is mentioned in many historic documents and it boasts quite a group of ghosts and spirits, said to walk its halls. Fortunately, the only spirits we encountered were in the bar. It was great to get together as a group after so much isolation in the past years and it was even better to join once again with old friends. We had a great meal, but when the disco powered up, we all migrated to the bar for drinks and a bit of quiet. Our thanks to Mark and Debbie for setting it all up and a merry Christmas to everyone. Lets all have a Happy New year.

It was a chilly misty morning on 6 Nov 2022 when Lincswings held our Annual General Meeting, once again, at Langworth Hall. Not surprisingly, most of us arrived on 4 wheels instead of 2. However, I did have the excuse that Lynne and I planned to go shopping in Lincoln after the meeting !!!. But, you can't keep good bikers down and so Trevor and Marion arrived in style (and well wrapped up) on their yellow peril (Isis).
Mark took the lead as our new Rep with Debbie taking the minutes. In all, there were 9 of us present with 12 apologies, so 21 out of 30ish wasn't so bad. The new Committee actually looks like the old committee and Sue, who was absent from the meeting, has decided to continue for one more year as our Treasurer. Stephen remains in his post as webmaster and Wingspan reporter, but he asked that members please bear him in mind whenever they venture out on their bikes and please send him (that's me) a few pictures and words to say what they have been up to. We discussed which charity we should support this year and it was decided that the Region would continue to support LIVES. Sandy suggested that he would review the support from the Skegness Light Parade and was considering switching to the Marie Curie Cancer Fund as this may have more appeal for the GWOC members attending from other regions. We also confirmed that (as decided at last year's AGM) we would not hold a Wingding in 2023, but would look to hold an extended one in 2024 (over a bank holiday).
To finish off the meeting we held a ballot for "Winger of the Year" and "Whoops of the year". Looking back, we couldn't actually identify anyone who had done a real whoopsie (like dropping their bike etc) however, we did recall that Doug had run over Sue's foot at this year's Skegness Light Parade and so the Whoops was unanimously voted for Doug. The ballot for Winger of the year threw out a number of different names but the most nominations went to Doug and Sue, not least for her services as Treasurer. So in the end, both awards went to the Doug and Sue household. Unfortunately, they had not attended the meeting due to ill health but Mark and Debbie called in to see them and present their awards at home.
Our next meeting will be in March 2023, although quite a few of us will attend the Christmas party at the White Hart in Lincoln and we also have a number of visitors coming to join us from other regions so watch this space for our party report.

A trip to Cleethorpes - 9 Oct 2022
Sunday morning dawned bright and breezy, so we put on our warm undies and awaited the arrival of Trev and Marion for our ride up to Willingham woods. Arriving at the woods carpark around 10.00, we met up with Mark and Debbie, Doug and Sue, Dave, and Alan on his trike. After a warming cup of coffee we set out at 11.00 o'clock along some beautiful country lanes with Mark in the lead. Keeping off the main roads meant we had a most pleasant ride without interference from other road users.
Arriving in Cleethorpes, Mark led us along the sea front to arrive at the Trawlerman Inn by 12.00 o'clock. The pub carpark was mostly empty so we took full advantage of the parking spaces. We also met up with Martin and Di who had come to join us by car. We were just in time to catch the pub doors opening and were first in the queue to buy our carvery tickets and drinks. In this place, "he who hesitates is lost"! Yes within minutes the queue built up out of the door and the place became very busy. However, we sat down to enjoy our scrumptious Sunday dinner and to have a nice chat with friends.
We lingered in the pub until around 13.30 when we once again got togged up for the ride home. We decided to split up from the pub and so we (Stephen and Lynne) followed Trev and Marion to retrace our route back to Market Rasen and then down to Lincoln. This is where we called in at the International Bomber Command Centre to visit the "Standing with Giants" exhibition comprising life size silhouettes to represent the British fallen in the Falklands conflict.
The exhibition is currently touring the country and so it was fortuitous that we were able to visit whilst it was based in the IBCC. Following our tour around the exhibition, we stopped in the cafe for coffee and cakes before setting off home. What a grand day out.

Dave Powell kindly sent me some pictures to show that he has indeed been out and about this last month. First was his visit to East Kirkby where the Lancaster bomber does taxi runs for those willing to cough up the price of a ride. The event was a special fund raiser and Dave went along to join the other bikers and enjoy the day out
Next on his list was a weekend away at the 2022 UK Treffen held in Uttoxeter over the late August bank holiday. Not only did he enjoy a great weekend away but he also caught Martin in his casual clothes getting ready for a night out
